Can't get it to start

Hi, I stumbled across your game/website while looking for a new fix to either my Elite-style game addiction or even something along the lines of SAIS, since I have a bad habit of playing that during phone calls or etc :D. Excited about what I saw in the screenshots, I downloaded a copy and got really excited to play. Unfortunately running the EXE for me (WinXP) did not function and dropped me to the windows desktop. Java 1.6 is installed. Since log files are created for debugging, I've included those here.

Regardless, it looks like some pretty good development.

Hi wildkard. My apologies for taking so long to respond.

I think the cause of your problems may be your system disliking the graphics rendering options turned on for Java. Try the alternate version at http://www.metalbeetle.com/spaceexploration/files/SE7Wildkard.jar.zip - which is just the un-wrapped Java executable.

I'd be interested to hear if this works.

Hi zarkonnen.

Indeed running the unwrapped jar file lets me play the game fine. On my particular system I find that the lower resolution graphics run better, however both forms work and I'm able to change between them.

Excellent!

I have now actually removed the extra graphics options for dev 8, since they were causing display problems on all Vista machines. So hopefully, you should be able to play dev 8 from the normal distribution.
