Now on to the main post.
I read about Space Exploration from rpgcodex.com. Damn, what I'd have missed if I didn't visit that site regularly. I think this game is solid gold, and tbh I had more fun in one session of this than I did with Strange Adventures
I definitely had fun with making different choices, though I've yet to see any consequences as I just had my first playthrough. I really think this game has potential to be something big, especially with the way it's distributed: I'm all for paying for expansion packs that add hundreds more scenarios and C&C (choices&consequences). It was what made Star Control 2 so great, and where Strange Adventures falls short. I think you're on the right track here
I'll definitely be playing this quite a fair bit, and offer more ideas on possible scenarios. Another indie game to make me really excited about :)
Turns out the forum host randomly put in a spam filter that blocked your messages. I can't begin to describe how annoyed I am.

It turns out I have to manually unmark-as-spam your messages, since the system has taken a dislike to you. But it is adaptive, so hopefully it will learn. In the meantime, don't worry if your posts don't go up instantly.
As for mods, it's definitely a possibility. But getting the game moddable is obviously extra work, and right now we want to focus on making the game. So we may well do it, but it won't be at the time of the initial release.

We've just about gone through the mountain of feedback email we received for dev 8, and will be starting on dev 9 in earnest come Monday.
